1. Setting Up Your Backyard
Stadium 🏟️

A successful Beer Olympics requires preparation. You’re the
commissioner; act like it.

The Venue

Mow the lawn (at least a day before), set up “Team Zones” with
folding chairs, and ensure you have at least three distinct game
stations to keep things moving.

Equipment Checklist

  • 10+ cases of beer (know your crowd)
  • 4+ folding tables (standard 8ft is best)
  • 200+ Red Solo Cups
  • 20+ Ping Pong Balls
  • A large whiteboard for the leaderboard
  • “The Golden Jug” (or any ridiculous trophy)

2. Opening Ceremonies 🎺

Don’t just start drinking. Make it an event.

The Parade of Nations

Each team of 2-4 picks a “country” (real or fictional). Costumes are
mandatory. Give a 5-minute window for teams to “march” into the backyard
to their chosen anthem.

The Oath of Sportsmanship

“I solemnly swear to drink my beer, play fair, and never (ever) spill
on the host’s dog.”

3. The Core Olympic Games 🏅

A standard Beer Olympics has 5 core events. Each event awards Gold
(10 pts), Silver (5 pts), and Bronze (2 pts).

Event 1: The Relay Race (Chug
& Run)

Setup: One beer per person. Rules:
The first player chugs their beer, spins around their empty cup three
times, then tags the next person. First team to finish all beers
wins.

Event 2: Beer Pong
(Tournament Style)

Setup: Standard 10-cup pyramid.
Rules: Standard Beer Pong Rules
apply, but games are timed (10 minutes max). Most cups remaining wins
the heat.

Event 3: Flip Cup
(Double-Elimination)

Setup: 4 vs 4 on an 8ft table.
Rules: First team to drink and flip all their cups
successfully wins the round.

Event 4: Civil War

Setup: 3 vs 3. Each player has 3 cups.
Rules: Rapid-fire Beer Pong. No turns. Just pure chaos.
Once your 3 cups are gone, you’re out. Last person standing wins for
their team.

Event 5: Beer Ball

Setup: 2 vs 2. Two unopened cans of beer per team.
Rules: Throw a ping pong ball at the opponent’s cans.
If you hit, you drink until they retrieve the ball and touch it to the
table. First team to finish their cans wins.

4. Scoring & The Leaderboard
📊

Keep a visible scoreboard. Nothing fuels competition like seeing
“Team Tequila” trailing by 2 points before the final event.

Team Name Relay Pong Flip Cup Civil War Total
Team USA 10 5 2 10 27
Wakanda 5 10 5 5 25

5. Pro-Tips for the Host 🍺

  1. Water Stations: Mandatory. One gallon of water for
    every case of beer.
  2. Snacks: Heavy carbs (pretzels, sliders, pizza) are
    your friends.
  3. Safety: Have a designated “Cool Down Zone” and
ensure everyone has a safe ride home.
